Frequently asked questions

A useful starting point before your quote. For advice specific to your property, let Josh see the tree and the site.

Quick answer

What should I know before arranging tree work?

The tree, access, nearby property and council requirements all affect the right approach. Josh provides a free on-site quote, discusses the scope with you directly and includes a thorough clean-up unless you ask to retain suitable mulch, firewood or timber.

  • Council approval depends on the council, property, tree and proposed work.
  • Restricted access can usually be assessed during the site visit.
  • Keep clear of storm-damaged trees and powerlines until the area is safe.
  • Use the questions below for general guidance, then ask Josh about your property.
01Do I need council approval to remove or prune a tree?+

Council approval requirements vary depending on your local council, the type of tree and the work being carried out. With more than 20 years of experience working across Sydney’s Northern Beaches and North Shore, Josh can usually explain whether council approval may be required for your job. If approval is needed, Josh will guide you through the process, explain what’s required and help you understand the next steps before any work begins. Not sure if approval is required? Give Josh a call. He’s always happy to talk through your job and point you in the right direction before booking a free on-site quote. Customers should always follow the requirements of their local council where approval is required.

02Is the quote free?+

Yes. Leaf It To Me offers free on-site quotes so Josh can assess the tree, access and surrounding structures before confirming the work.

03What should I include with my enquiry?+

Your suburb, the type of work you think you need and a short description are ideal. Include any access details such as stairs, narrow side paths or shared driveways.

04Do you clean up after the job?+

Yes. A thorough clean-up of the agreed work area is included unless the quote states otherwise. Josh and the team remove branches, logs, leaves and other green waste as part of the agreed service, leaving the work area clean and tidy. If you’d like to keep mulch for your garden or retain suitable firewood or timber, simply let Josh know during your free on-site quote and he’ll happily discuss the best option with you. We believe finishing the job properly includes leaving the agreed work area looking as good as practical.

05Can you work around tight access?+

Many properties across Sydney’s Northern Beaches and North Shore have limited access. Josh will inspect widths, steps, slopes and the path to the street, then plan the job around the real site.

06What should I do after storm damage?+

Keep people away from damaged trees and hanging branches. Call 000 for life-threatening emergencies and Ausgrid on 13 13 88 for fallen or damaged powerlines. Contact Josh once the area can be approached safely.
